Table of Contents

LinkedIn has rolled out a significant update aimed at enhancing the search engine visibility of its content creators. Users can now customize SEO titles and descriptions for their published articles, a move designed to improve how their content appears in search engine results pages. This feature allows for more precise optimization, ensuring articles are more easily found by relevant audiences.

Key Takeaways

  • Customizable SEO titles and descriptions for LinkedIn articles.
  • Increased visibility for LinkedIn Newsletters in search results.
  • Upcoming feature for scheduling articles and newsletters.

Optimising Your LinkedIn Articles

Professionals and businesses utilizing LinkedIn for audience growth or client outreach now have a dedicated tool to refine their content’s search presence. Previously, creators likely crafted headlines with search engines in mind, but this new functionality offers a more direct way to optimize for discoverability. The platform now provides specific fields for SEO titles and descriptions within the article publishing settings.

The SEO title field allows for up to 60 characters and will be used by search engines like Google in place of the article’s main title on search result pages. Similarly, the SEO description field, with a limit of 160 characters, will replace the initial lines of an article in search results. LinkedIn recommends using relevant keywords and providing a concise summary of the article’s content within this character limit to maximize effectiveness.

Enhanced Visibility for Newsletters

In addition to article optimization, LinkedIn is also elevating the prominence of its Newsletters within search results. Creators who offer newsletters will now see them displayed more prominently under their author name, complete with a clear ‘Subscribe’ button. This change aims to encourage more subscriptions and make it easier for users to follow their favourite content series.

Future Enhancements: Scheduling Capabilities

Looking ahead, LinkedIn has announced that article and newsletter authors will soon be able to schedule their content. This forthcoming feature will function similarly to the existing post scheduling capabilities, offering creators more flexibility in managing their publishing workflow and ensuring a consistent content delivery schedule.
